Thank You, Sweet Readers!

Remember these little sliders from back in March of this year?! Well, they have been around the world and back, sweet readers! When I made these for a birthday order, I had no idea that they would be so popular with the internet crowd. I know many of you have come to know this blog because of these sweet little sliders and I am so blessed by that! I received hundreds of thousands of hits on Flickr for these guys and many, many emails from across the country and around the world. It was an eye-opener, to be sure, and so fun to "meet" so many people!

Well, I just had to share that they are also now published in Woman's Day's online publication. :) I got an email this week regarding this and was pleased to share my photo for the story. Sweet!

That's all, just wanted to share this with you. Check out the article if you wish...it has some other fabulous and delectable photos as well! And thanks again for your loyalty, your sweet comments and checking back with me often.

Decadent Chocolate and Salted Caramel Cupcakes

Hello Sweet Readers!

Here are some decadent chocolate and salted caramel cupcakes I made for two wonderful friends' birthdays. I got the salted caramel and frosting recipe from the "Martha Stewart Cupcakes" book. I got the cake recipe from "Confetti Cakes". They were all very, very good! I especially love the silkiness of the frosting. Isn't it pretty? Anyway, the cupcakes were sooo very moist and delicious and the fleur de sel on top was incredible. Interesting, but great addition.

Coldplay! Unrelated to Sweets except that the Concert was SWEET!

Sweet! Last week we went to a Coldplay concert. They were great and lots of fun. It was an outside venue and the day was stinkin' hot, so we were a little worried...
But they came on after dark and the weather was perfect. They are a very talented and fun band to watch and they seem to care for their fans (even the ones in the waaayyy back, like us!). They did a neat tribute to Michael Jackson and played "Billy Jean". Coldplay version. It was a sweet tribute, I thought. They even gave every person there a free live CD when we left. Cool!
These are my two sweet boys...very excited that they are having a "just the men" night while mommy goes out to the Coldplay concert. You can tell they are really torn up about me leaving...
Photos of our Coldplay crew before the concert! My cousin Krista and great friends Rachel and Mike.

This was a special birthday present for Krista, my beautiful and wonderful cousin. She has always been there for me with awesome Godly wisdom and grace. I love her!

Have any of you had a chance to see Coldplay? Let me know what you thought!

Cupcake Gifts

Good Morning, Sweet Readers!

I hope you had a fabulous weekend and were radically blessed in what you did!

I have done some fun things this past week, so I will do a few more postings this week than I have been recently.

These jumbo cupcakes were made for thank you gifts. All three were different flavors and all were big, sweet beauties. I am ever so grateful for those who give their time, effort and love in caring for my kiddos and for my family. These were just a little token of thanks..

Hope your week goes great!

Time for Ice Cream!

Hello Sweet Readers!

I know, it's been too long! Thanks for checking in today. I am posting something I have never posted on my blog...homemade ice cream. My hubby and I made this sour cream ice cream this weekend. It was soo delicious. You would not think it would be, but it was. We saw the recipe in this month's issue of "Gourmet" magazine and just had to try it. It was actually very simple compared to other homemade ice cream flavors I have made. It had all the decadent goodies of regular ice cream..half and half, heavy whipping cream, sugar, etc.... but also called for a cup or so of sour cream. It tasted like cheesecake, in a way. It was very refreshing and delicious. That is what we need these days with the temps over 100 degrees!

Enjoy and stay cool wherever you are!

Rosey Cake

Hello Sweet Readers~

Here is a cake I made awhile back when I was playing with (i.e. practicing) buttercream roses. On this carrot cake are many different kinds of frosting roses. I would love a tried and true recipe on the perfect, totally tasty frosting rose. I found during this experiment that the frosting I liked the best didn't fare to well with making the roses because it was too soft and didn't hold the shape. The best one for shaping had shortening in it and I am not a fan of that taste-wise. If you happen to have a fab frosting that makes fab looking roses (note here that I will someday get the technique itself perfected..I hope), please let me know! I would love to try it out. If you are local, I will make you a cupcake for it :)

Candy Crafts

Hello Sweet Readers!

Just thought I'd share some little candy gifts I made. These are covered chocolate nuggets and I made them as a part of gift packages. I hand made everything as I combined my fondness of paper crafting with my love of sweets...it's always a good combination!

Happy Independence Day!

Hello Sweet Readers!

This 4th of July I am visiting family and have not been able to use my kitchen for any special Independence Day treats. I did, however, want to show you these cupcake truffles that I made for an order last year since they seem to fit the occasion.

I hope you are having fun celebrating the holiday and are with those you love today!
